Paul started his working life with Barclays Bank Plc before moving into insolvency in 1993.
He joined Levy Gee, where he met up with Neil Geddes, and worked in the Manchester office for 11 years. During this time, Paul completed his insolvency exams and qualified in 1995.
After a short spell with BDO Stoy Hayward, where he acted on several major retail insolvencies, he teamed up with Neil Geddes to head up a practise specialising in personal insolvency.
He has held a licence since 2006 and is a Fellow of the Association of Business Recovery Professionals.
Paul has had over 25 years experience in personal and corporate insolvency, and has spent the majority of his career with BDO Stoy Hayward and latterly Grant Thomton in Dublin and Belfast.
Paul passed his insolvency exams in 1995 and had worked with Paul Johnson at BDO Stoy Hayward for several years between 2004 and 2006, specialising in significant corporate insolvencies.
He has most recently assisted in the set-up of the processes and controls relating to personal insolvency in Ireland, following the change in legislation in 2013. The changes allowed the Irish access to alternative personal insolvency solutions akin to Individial Voluntary Arrangements available in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
Paul joined Johnson Geddes in December 2014 and is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.
Neil was one of the founder members of Johnson Geddes and sadly passed away in October 2014.
Neil began his insolvency career in London in 1979 with Price Waterhouse. Since then he developed a wide experience of all aspects of insolvency, both corporate and personal, and had held an insolvency licence since 1986.
He became a partner at Levy Gee in 1987 and moved north to Manchester in 1993 to help in the development of the practice. He had worked with Paul Johnson since 1994, mainly acting for banking clients on distressed corporate lending positions. Together with Paul they established the current niche practice, staffed by people who really know their job and where clients are treated with courtesy and respect. These traditions will continue to live on in the company.
